The value range of suspension springs are not high quality, they are inexpensive and intended for very basic or cheap clocks. They are not manufactured or finished perfectly and due to variations between batches the sizing is approximate.
Regardless of these flaws they can get your clock ticking again for a low price, so are very popular.
